Biography

Seacoast Pathology, a Sonic Healthcare Anatomic Pathology Practice is privileged to include Kavitha Rao, M.D., as a valued member of its pathology staff. Dr. Rao brings with her an impressive academic background and a wealth of knowledge.

Dr. Rao earned her medical degree from the Government Medical College in Mysore, India. Subsequently, she completed a residency in anatomic pathology from the University Hospitals of Cleveland Case Western Reserve University in Ohio. She went on to complete a one-year fellowship in surgical pathology at Hartford Hospital in Connecticut. Here, she gave presentations as part of the breast, gastrointestinal, genitourinary, and gynecological tumor boards. She concluded her postgraduate training as a cytopathology fellow at the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, New Hampshire.

Dr. Rao relocated to India to begin her professional career as a surgical pathologist consultant in Bangalore. Upon returning to the United States, Dr. Rao began working with Seacoast Pathology. She is a member of the United States and Canadian Academy of Pathology and College of American Pathologists.

Dr. Rao’s pathology-related research efforts have been published as abstracts and articles in scientific journals.

Dr. Rao holds full medical licensure and is board certified in anatomic pathology and cytopathology.
